cross breeds

I was just reading an interesting article in shooting times about labradoodles and how they are already starting to be an useful addition to the working breeds. Being not only attractive to look at but inheriting working abilities from both their parents (poodles originally were bred as excellent waterdogs) Kennel club may recognise them in the future as a new breed
Cross breeds are renowned for having hybred vigour making them stronger than pedigree dogs
Lurchers are the other obvious proven cross breed
My spanador was a complete accident my husbands top class labrador being caught by my working springer it was to be the only litter she had unfortunately. We kept one puppy for Sophie but at first it didn't seam like a good idea .He started off as a house dog but he was built like a lab yet had the energy and busyness of a spaniel everything in the house would go flying he would crash into things he was like a out of control bulldozer so i kennel was hastily built. He would go out beating with his father but at first was terrible at retrieving he would get a bird then bury it rather than bring it back. However he was good at finding birds and did some beating with sophie and started to pick up and retrieve. He is a good swimmer and loves the water .This year he has exelled at picking up i never seen such a hard working dog however i have ruined him for beating he wont do that with Sophie anymore he just heads towards the nearest gun and retrieves for him, some guns are pleased to find a dog has suddenly adopted them others not so so now he doesnt go beating anymore i have claimed him as my number 1 picking up dog.

Re: cross breeds
you can see the physical characteristics of both in the dog, strangely attractive. looks like a good solid dog with a good head on him.
